Bio

I'm a PhD student at the University of Helsinki and my research concentrates on assimilation of black shale in layered intrusions and its effects on the formation of magmatic Cu-Ni sulfide deposits. The essential research methods include experimental petrology and thermodynamic modeling. The Magma Chamber Simulator allows me to monitor how the black shale assimilation affects the sulfide saturation in the magma. Compared to conventional assimilation-fractional crystallization models, consideration of phase equilibria and heat + mass balance using MCS reveals important information on the formation of magmatic sulfide deposits. Out of the office, I regularly block the ambient noise with 60's–70's rock and occupy my time with various sports and outdoor activities, and more importantly with 8-ball in suburban pubs.
