Monike Distefano Kassem

Graduate Student

Bio

I was born and raised in Paraguay. I came to the United States in 2016 where I completed my B.S. in Applied Geology and B.A. in Economics. Currently, I am a graduate student at Colorado School of Mines where I am pursuing a M.S. in Geology. I am looking into modelling the 1996 simultaneous eruption of andesite from Karymsky Volcano and of basalt from the nearby Academy Nauk vent (Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia) with the Magma Chamber Simulator.  I am interested in pursuing a PhD in the near future and continue working with the MCS applications. In my free time, I enjoy reading mystery novels and cooking Paraguayan dishes.
